Public Health AmeriCorps Centralized Call Center

The Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) will have 120 quarter-time Public Health AmeriCorps (PHAC) members whom will assist DPHSS to educate the island's community of the various programs and services administered by DPHSS. Members will serve at the Centralized Contact Center and/or at DPHSS satellite locations within DPHSS divisions and at outreach events. The Centralized Contact Center will be established to respond to the community through both telephone and email inquiries made to the Division of General Administration (DGA), Division of Environmental Health (DEH), Division of Public Health (DPH), Division of Public Welfare (DPW), Division of Senior Citizens (DSC), and Division of Children's Wellness (DCW). PHAC members will be trained to provide accurate, timely, and updated information for individuals to increase their knowledge of available public health programs and services that would help them make informed decisions that would lead them to improve upon their overall health and well-being through accessed services. In addition, PHAC members will also provide community service by supporting the department's various COVID-19 response activities such as, assisting at vaccination and testing sites, and/or communicating with hard-to-reach populations on the importance of being vaccinated through community outreach. After their term of service, the 120 PHAC members will have gained knowledge and experience that would aspire these individuals to consider pursuing future engagement in the public health field. The living allowance a member will receive per month is $500 upon fulfillment of required service hours. After successfully completing AmeriCorps term of service, members are eligible to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award that can be used to repay qualified student loans and to pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions of higher education and training programs.
