This VISTA position is an incredible opportunity to grow in a leadership capacity. You will get to work with one of the fastest growing motorsports organizations on the eastern side of the US in a crucial role to roll out the Appalachian Overland Triangle spanning Eastern Kentucky, Southern Ohio, and West Virginia. Support the development and sustainability of the Appalachian Overland Triangle initiative by ensuring all routes and roads are publicly accessible for licensed and insured vehicles. This role will enhance motorsports tourism by verifying accurate mapping data, collaborating with stakeholders, and managing route publication across platforms. This is not just an incredible resume builder but an adventure that you will never forget. You will a part of creating a movement in our region that will bring a much needed boost to the economies of three different states. You will, to just list a few: • Partner with local, state, and federal agencies to secure permissions and approvals for route inclusion. • Ensure compliance with land use policies, including national and state park guidelines. • Represent the Appalachian Overland Triangle initiative in meetings and events, fostering key relationships. • Work with the Appalachian Overland Triangle team to design accurate, visually engaging route maps for online platforms. • Leverage mapping tools such as GSA Mapping, REVER, and Onyx Mapping to create and update digital route content. • Support the initiative’s public presence by contributing to social media posts and website updates. Member Duties : Familiarize and connect with DOT offices in Eastern Kentucky, Southern Ohio, and West Virginia to gain access to public road data. Begin verifying and documenting public access roads for mapping compliance. Engage with agencies to align routes with regulations and establish partnerships. Continue collaborating to finalize approved routes and incorporate findings into mapping systems. Add verified routes to REVER, Backroads of Appalachia’s mapping software, and other platforms. Include points of interest along routes to promote local businesses. Gain expertise in mapping platforms (GSA Mapping, REVER, Onyx Mapping). Develop skills in Canva for creating promotional materials and visual content. Maintain organized documentation and reports using Microsoft Excel and Word. Develop proficiency in tools, ensuring consistent application throughout the project.
