2025 Community Support Specialist - Hunger Action Corps
 
 
 
In Cook County, one in five households face food insecurity. To address this problem, the Food Depository collaborates with a network of over 850 community partners, providing nutritious food to neighbors year-round. This network includes more than 450 food pantries and soup kitchens. The Hunger Action Corps Member in this position will play a vital role in delivering direct support to partner organizations aiming to expand their programs and extend their reach into the community. In addition to offering programmatic assistance to a designated Partner Host Site, the Corps Member will actively seek innovative solutions to reduce hunger across Cook County.

Member Duties : Members will provide support to the partner host site at which they are placed, utilizing Food Depository resources to help support the organization's food programming, volunteer engagement, and other resources & services. Specifically, members will: - Develop an in-depth knowledge of the Food Depository’s program operations and available services - Maintain a strong knowledge of current guidelines and regulations of food program administration - Connect partners to programming and resources that build capacity to distribute food effectively and efficiently to individuals within their service area - Develop an expertise in using data tracking systems for food pantries - Support with client intake, meal distribution, and community outreach - Identify new resources, in-kind donations, and applicable workshop sessions for community members - Collaborate with staff from all departments to create innovative solutions to end hunger in Cook County
