CCUA's Outreach and Training Development VISTA
 
 
 
Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture works to enhance our community’s health by connecting people to agriculture and the land through hands-on learning opportunities from seed to plate. The VISTA project will seek to: support newly established programs and help existing programs adapt to using Columbia’s Agriculture Park. The VISTA project expects to benefit families living with low-incomes, children enrolled in Columbia Public Schools (a school district with high rates of free and reduced lunch), and military Veterans. VISTA members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as: creating lessons, creating garden plans, creating interpretive displays for use at Columbia’s Agriculture Park, organizing events, developing and documenting procedures, recruiting volunteers, and developing new programming.

Member Duties : The Outreach and Training Development VISTA will create a set of procedures and best practices for onboarding staff and VISTAS. The VISTA will also develop, direct, record, and publish 7 new professional development trainings. for staff and VISTAS. Additionally, the VISTA will create a set of procedures and best practices for creating accessible spaces in the upcoming Welcome Center/Kitchen, office space, and resource library. The VISTA will also coordinate logistics and develop educational materials for CCUA to attend 20 community outreach events.
