VISTA Engagement Specialist

Are you passionate about education and empowering communities? Join Read Muskegon as a VISTA Outreach and Engagement Coordinator and help build sustainable systems that connect adult learners, families, and volunteers to life-changing educational opportunities! In this role, you will develop and implement strategies to increase participation in Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs and Great Start-funded initiatives, while also expanding and diversifying the volunteer tutor pool. By creating sustainable outreach frameworks, strengthening referral partnerships, and streamlining processes, you will ensure more learners and families can access critical educational resources for years to come. You’ll collaborate with schools, libraries, childcare centers, and other community organizations to promote programs, develop trust, and identify opportunities to engage low-income families and volunteers. From designing tailored outreach presentations to organizing events like job fairs and community festivals, your work will help expand awareness and build a robust network of partners supporting Read Muskegon’s mission. In addition to outreach, you’ll play a key role in developing systems that enhance volunteer recruitment and engagement. By creating toolkits, refining onboarding processes, and designing activities to sustain volunteer participation, you’ll help ensure tutors have the tools they need to make a lasting impact. Your work will also include building feedback systems to identify areas for growth and improve participant satisfaction—laying the foundation for continuous program enhancement. This is an opportunity to develop skills in program development, outreach, and community engagement while leaving behind a legacy of increased capacity and access to educational resources. If you’re ready to build partnerships, design creative strategies, and help connect learners, families, and volunteers to opportunities that can transform their lives, this is the role for you.
