Youth Program Development VISTA

Spokane County United Way is the local affiliate for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL). The DPIL provides free age-appropriate books to children ages 0-5 monthly. The goal of this VISTA project is to promote the program within the community, increase access and enrollment in the program for youth and families in the area, and create sustainable frameworks that will allow the program to continue to expand and serve more children in the future. Spokane County currently sits below the national average for kindergarten readiness with a rate of 27% of children in the area being academically and socially prepared to enter kindergarten. This program aims to change that.
