Participant Voice and Leadership Development VISTA
 
 
 
This project intends to help Transitions participants and alums move out of poverty by offering leadership development opportunities and enhancing the power of participant voice in Transitions’ decision-making bodies. This role will focus on increasing diversity, equity and inclusion and uplifting lived expertise. The member will assist participants in taking increased control of their journey with the goal of participants becoming more confident, trauma-informed and proactive in advocating for themselves and their children. The member will coordinate and strengthen the Participant Advisory Committee, research best practices for participant voice, leadership development, and storytelling, provide trainings, and conduct assessments.

Member Duties : Engage with programs and leadership to inform PAC: Review trauma-informed practices and lived experience materials. Engage participants and review surveys. Build on learnings to create a sustainability report. Convene, support, and develop the PAC. Facilitate meetings, coordinate stipends, childcare, and meals. Recruit, onboard, and support new members; promote PAC to participants. Ensure PAC feedback reaches staff. Conduct evaluations using anti-oppressive practices; collect data. Implement storytelling curriculum to amplify participant voices: Refine and implement trauma-informed storytelling curriculum across programs. Include diverse formats and participant feedback. Develop sustainability strategies and explore voice opportunities. Ensure PAC sustainability: Explore grants with the grant writer; prepare requests. Review PAC materials to increase participant role. Create training videos/materials for staff and participants.
