Community and Youth Engagement Coordinator

Mosaic Miami, a champion for social equity, community cohesion, and inclusive education for nearly 90 years, is launching an impactful AmeriCorps VISTA project to address systemic inequities and empower marginalized communities in Miami-Dade County. Rooted in a legacy of fostering inclusivity and bridging divides, Mosaic Miami has played a pivotal role in promoting justice, from addressing religious intolerance during its inception to advancing racial equity in modern times. This project builds on Mosaic Miami’s signature programs, including MetroTown, an immersive youth leadership camp; Can We Talk?, a series fostering courageous conversations about identity and inclusion; and Breakthroughs and Bridges, which unites diverse community members for collaborative problem-solving. The initiative also supports Emerging Leaders' Dinners, connecting young leaders with seasoned mentors, and Mosaic Miami Youth Institutes, cultivating a new generation of inclusive leaders. With the support of two dedicated VISTA members, the project focuses on three primary goals: Expanding Programs: Enhance the reach and impact of Mosaic Miami’s transformative initiatives to directly benefit 500 individuals annually and engage 1,500 more through outreach. Addressing Racial Inequities: Implement targeted educational interventions and facilitate inclusive dialogue to challenge systemic racism and economic disparities. Building Partnerships: Establish sustainable collaborations with schools, nonprofits, and businesses to drive systemic change and amplify community resilience. By empowering marginalized populations, fostering civic engagement, and addressing poverty’s root causes, this project contributes to a more equitable and connected Miami. Mosaic Miami’s VISTA initiative exemplifies its mission to embrace diversity, foster dialogue, and build bridges across divides for the betterment of South Florida.
