Resource Development and Program Assistant

MAVI is a nonprofit organization with 36 years of experience providing independent living services to people with disabilities (PWD). Our mission is to promote their inclusion in community living to encourage them to become self-sufficient, empowered individuals with equal opportunities. MAVI’s headquarters are located in San Juan with four additional offices in Caguas, Rio Grande, Arecibo and Añasco. Our VISTA members will have the opportunity to learn basic sign language and participate in a comprehensive capacity building program that will provide important skills to better understand and support PWDs, (emergency preparedness and response, sensibility, characteristics of different types of disabilities, ADA Law, among other topics). They will also have the opportunity to contribute in a nonprofit organization’s programmatic, resource development and volunteer development areas, making this a valuable learning experience. Members will be supporting programs aimed at providing services to an underserved population who desperately need skills to obtain employment and improved living conditions for independent living. The program services members will be supporting include: • Financial Resource Development to develop and expand diversified funding alternatives to provide additional resources for our existing programs personnel and operational costs associated with those programs. • Program development and delivery to improve and expand existing employment programs. • Volunteer development to develop a volunteer pool to assist in organizations operational needs. MAVI is looking for creative, sensible members who can support our existing programs and bring innovative ideas for their improvement. For more information you may contact Yomari Rivera at yrivera@mavi-pr.org or Milly de la Torre at mdelatorre@mavi-pr.org, visit our webpage http://www.mavi-pr.org or call us at (787) 758-7901.
