Central Community House - Development

Central Community House’s (CCH’s) mission is to empower people to reach their full potential, to be self-supporting, and to live cooperatively with all others. In this project, the VISTA will work with CCH’s Development Department to increase the funding and other resources available for programs and services that provide support and opportunity to families, youth, and seniors. CCH strives to create a culture of well-being and sense of community where everyone has access to the resources that make living well possible. We do this by offering free, comprehensive programming and community services, serving over 4,000 individuals annually. Program areas include youth afterschool/summer programs, TRANSIT ARTS/teen development, senior programs, community organizing, family strengthening/social work, basic needs/crisis assistance, and workforce development. The VISTA will work to add capacity in CCH’s Development Department to expand the resources available for these programs and services through launching a targeted social media strategy, grant writing, seeking philanthropic contributions, planning and executing campaigns and events.

Member Duties : The VISTA will work to increase the resources currently available to low income seniors, youth, and families through Central Community House programming. Primary responsibilities will include helping develop a targeted social media engagement strategy, writing grant proposals, fundraising “pitches,” seeking in-kind donations of supplies, and adding capacity for planning events. The VISTA will use past engagement and researching of best practice strategies to grow targeted social media engagement, increasing program/event attendance, volunteer engagement, and online donation. The VISTA will also research grant opportunities and potential donors, and write proposals and requests for contributions to funders. Finally, the VISTA will play a vital role in expanding CCH’s largest community event, The Village Maker Festival. This event raises agency funds, but is free and open for the community, and celebrates everyday heroes who work to make our community a better place.
