Member Duties : The Hoosier Public Health Corps (IUSM AmeriCorps) will connect first year medical students to nonprofits around the state to gain a critical understanding of public health issues in Indiana. Medical students who become AmeriCorps Members will spend their summer serving full-time with a nonprofit organization and completing professional development sessions. The program’s educational components will prepare students to become physicians who are culturally competent, critical thinkers, and understand healthcare disparities on a systems level. During their service, Members will be placed at a nonprofit addressing public health needs and have individualized experiences.
