Lansing MI- Housing Resource Specialist

The Healthy Homes Restore Corps members achieve that by facilitation of housing workshops, distribution of weatherization resources, and engaging community members in one-on-one counseling assessments to curate a healthy home environment in the Tri-County regional area; Also included are Shiawassee, Clinton, and Eaton counties as well. Another facet of that looks at reviewing the regulation of local renting practices for tenants across the region and finding ways to connect with landlords and tenants to create better stewardship and mitigation strategies for health hazard prevention. AmeriCorps gives community members an opportunity to do direct service and outreach for the communities they live in and make a real difference! AmeriCorps members tackle issues like hunger, homelessness, safe & affordable housing, healthy food access, etc. We are representatives of making change and partnering with organizations that actually do the work to make our communities better places to live. We also offer members in our program monthly professional development training in addition to what they learn on-site. Some trainings we've done in the past include time management skills, public speaking, workforce development, mental health first aid, grant-writing, and now Healthy Housing education and community partnership training. Lastly, members are eligible for an educational award after completion of service ranging from $1,500 to $7400 dollars that can go directly towards student loans and educational activities.
