Community Engagement and Feasibility Developer VISTA
 
 
 
Who: The Nebraska Afghan Community Center (NACC), founded to help and support newly arrived Afghan families by a group of local Afghan leaders in Omaha and former US military interpreters. NACC’s mission is to create a unified, educated and self-sufficient Afghan community in Nebraska. NACC operates under five community initiatives: Healthy Communities, Community Integration, Community Self-Sufficiency, Community Education, and Organizational Sustainability. Where: NACC has two locations: Omaha 3320-3318 N 108th St. Omaha, NE 68164 Lincoln 285 S 68th St. Place Suite 312, Lincoln, NE 68510 What: The VISTA member will engage with the community and NACC’s partners, analyze the feasibility and effectiveness of our programs, and develop plans and materials to improve those programs. The VISTA will be instrumental in refining NACC’s programs such as the Afghan Women In-Home ESL Program, academic assistance for all ages, employment support, along with nearly all other support provided. Community outreach will connect the VISTA with organizations like the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands, and the Omaha Refugee Task Force. At the end of their term of service, the VISTA will be able to see a definite impact on both the organization and the community. Specific skills: Applicants should have some experience with community outreach, research, program management, and fundraising. NACC is a passionate group of local leaders, community volunteers, and experienced professionals from a variety of backgrounds. Serving at NACC will be an amazing experience for professional development and embracing diverse cultures. This service is not only about making a tangible impact in the community, NACC is also committed to providing a thoroughly rewarding experience for a VISTA member.

Member Duties : Community Outreach: 1. Collaborate with current partners on ways to increase impact as well as reach out to potential new partners in related areas 2. Engage with members of the community to understand their needs 3. Develop strategies and materials to increase volunteer participation and effectiveness Feasibility Development: 1. Analyze program strategy, execution, and impact to determine strengths and weaknesses 2. Align program changes with the community need identified earlier to create recommendations for improvements 3. Research and gather data on funding opportunities to aid in the feasibility assessment of programs 4. Develop strategies for sustainability through fundraising
