Techos Pa' Mi Gente - Builders
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps State & National position with Techos Pa’ Mi Gente (TPMG) offers a unique opportunity to rebuild roofs and homes for low-income residents in Puerto Rico, restoring stability and resilience for those impacted by natural disasters. Members will receive training in resilient construction practices based on guidelines from the Puerto Rico Institute of Engineers and Surveyors (CIAPR) and FEMA, as well as construction safety and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certification. In this hands-on role, members will engage in crucial roof repairs, operate construction tools, and work at heights and confined spaces to ensure that homes meet resilient building standards. Members will lead volunteer groups on worksites, promoting safety and high-quality work while providing guidance and mentorship. On non-construction days, members will assist with operational tasks at TPMG’s Operations Center to support program sustainability. Members will also document service progress, file weekly reports, and follow strict safety protocols, using personal protective equipment and TPMG vehicles responsibly. This service position empowers individuals to build a safer Puerto Rico while gaining invaluable construction skills, leadership experience, and community service knowledge.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps members will actively rebuild roofs and repair hurricane-damaged homes for low-income residents in Puerto Rico, following resilient construction standards and safety protocols. They will use various tools, work at heights, and ensure organized worksites. Members will also lead volunteer teams, providing guidance to complete tasks safely and effectively. On non-construction days, they will assist with operational tasks at TPMG’s Operations Center. Additional responsibilities include documenting weekly progress, reporting incidents, maintaining tool safety, and coordinating project timelines to ensure high-quality service delivery.
