JFarm Community Forestry Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
As part of our team, the Community Forestry Coordinator VISTA will work to mitigate urban heat island effect in the Historic Northeast neighborhoods. The VISTA will work with Evergy and community partners with the goal to improve environmental and public health.

Member Duties : The VISTA will work to increase climate resiliency and alleviate poverty by reducing cooling costs of Historic Northeast Kansas City residents. This will be done by mitigating urban heat island effect through coordinating the care for new tree plantings carried out by Evergy’s sustainability department. The VISTA will also focus on building Jerusalem Farm’s capacity to conduct future community tree plantings and tree care throughout Northeast Kansas City beyond the duration of this position. Additionally, the Community Forestry Coordinator will work to foster relationships with partners involved in the stewardship of Kansas City’s parks within the Historic Northeast with the goal of improving environmental and public health.
