Criminal Justice Services Early Childhood Intervention VISTA
 
 
 
Who: Join Lewis and Clark County’s Department of Criminal Justice Services in Helena, Montana, as an AmeriCorps VISTA. Collaborate with local coalitions, educators, parents, service providers, and justice system leaders to design a program that supports families with young children, breaking cycles of poverty and system involvement. What: Develop an Early Childhood Intervention Program to connect economically disadvantaged families with children to critical resources such as housing, healthcare, behavioral health services, and early education. Your work will focus on building a sustainable program to strengthen families and promote healthier futures. When: This is a one-year service position beginning in 2025. During this time, you will lead the research, design, and planning for program implementation in 2026. Where: Your office will be in downtown Helena at the Law and Justice Center, working closely with local partners like early childhood coalitions, the courts, health services, law enforcement, and community organizations that serve families in need. How: • Research best practices in early childhood intervention and family support. • Engage with key stakeholders through meetings, interviews, and community outreach. • Analyze local data to tailor the program to the specific needs of the community. • Draft program frameworks, policies, and evaluation tools to measure impact. • Collaborate with community partners to ensure program sustainability and success. Member Duties : Key Responsibilities include Program Research and Development, Community Engagement, Documentation and Reporting, and Evaluation and Feedback. The VISTA will investigate evidence-based early childhood intervention models, analyze local data and identify community needs, and collaborate with local service providers, public health experts, and justice leaders. The VISTA will build strong partnerships with stakeholders such as early childhood coalitions, healthcare providers, and community organizations, and facilitate one-on-one and group discussions to incorporate lived experiences into the program design. The VISTA will draft comprehensive program guidelines, including implementation timelines and best practices, and prepare presentations, reports, and data summaries for stakeholders and leadership. The VISTA will establish baseline metrics to measure program success and satisfaction and gather and incorporate feedback from community members and stakeholders to refine program design.
