24-25 Up2Us Sports External Affairs VISTA
 
 
 
Established in 2010, Up2Us Sports is the nationwide leader in engaging, training and supporting sports coaches to transform youth, programs and communities. Our AmeriCorps coaching program is the first national service program that challenges young adults to give back to their communities through a year of service as coach-mentors. Up2Us Sports’ research, training and on-the-ground initiatives empower sports programs across the country to become a united force for meaningful change. To date, Up2Us Sports has reached over 600,000 youth by placing over 3,000 coaches in underserved urban communities. Up2Us Sports has offices in New York, New Orleans, Baltimore, and Chicago. The VISTA will play an integral role in researching potential donors and funding opportunities, stewarding existing donors, maintaining donor data, and telling the impact stories of Up2Us Sports. This will ensure that Up2Us Sports has the necessary funds to continue providing life-changing coach-mentors to underserved youth in the communities we serve. The Development Team is a close-nit group, and the External Affairs VISTA will be able to learn virtually all aspects of nonprofit work. If you’re interested in a sustained future in nonprofits, this is an opportunity like no other. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree, a passion for the mission of Up2Us Sports, and previous volunteer experience. Fundraising, marketing, or sales experience is preferred but not required. The candidate will be an organized self-starter, work well under pressure, be a strong writer, and have a curiosity for learning about development, marketing, and events. Member Duties : The VISTA at Up2Us Sports will be part of the 2024-25 nationwide VISTA cohort of 41 members. The External Affairs VISTA will: diversify financial resources, develop and maintain relationships with potential sponsors and donors, securing grants and/or sponsorships; develop and strengthen contact lists for ongoing external communications; support the roll out of the new organizational brand identity; support telling the impact stories of Up2Us Sports by crafting and/or editing written and video content for the organization's website and social media channels; learn and become familiar with Salesforce CRM for corporate & foundations, utilizing a system of tracking and contact; research and identify potential private funding sources; identify, design, and implement creative engagement and communications strategies; and help improve donor stewardship.
