NHC: Community Health Fellowship, Greater Phila
 
 
 
National Health Corps: Community Health Fellowship (NHC: CHF), Greater Philadelphia is a National Health Corps program that's administered by the Health Federation of Philadelphia. NHC: CHF Greater Philadephia applicants must be residents of the following counties at the time of application submission: Philadephia County, Delaware County, Montgomery County, Chester County, or Bucks County. Our members serve a 1,700-hour service term over 46 weeks at a host site. Throughout their term of service, members received community health worker training and serve in community health worker, digital health navigator, and/or medical/community interpreter roles. Members are assigned a host site supervisor who provides mentorship, supervision, and access to professional development opportunities at the host site. Members also participate in ongoing professional development, team-building, and optional outside/group service activities through their NHC program.

Member Duties : Members serve in Community Health Worker, Digital Health Navigator, or Interpreter roles within resource-limited organizations that provide public health education and access services. NHC Community Health Fellowship objectives are to: 1) Decrease health disparities through addressing social determinants of health, including underlying structural oppression in communities plagued by histories of racial and economic inequities; 2) Provide community members training and experience in community health worker, digital navigator and medical interpreter roles for a culturally representative, well-trained public health workforce; and 3) Improve organizational efficiencies, community engagement and reach of services addressing social determinants of health. Unique position descriptions outline host site service duties for each member. Professional development includes supervision, training, group and outside service, volunteer engagement, and a retreat.
