Illinois Safe Schools Alliance - Midwest LGBTQ+ Network
 
 
 
The goal of the Alliance, a program of PHIMC, is to promote safety, support, and healthy development of LGBTQIA+ youth in Illinois schools and communities through advocacy, education, youth organizing, and research. These programmatic areas come together to support the Midwest LGBTQ+ Network . The Midwest LGBTQ + Network is a newly formed coalition to bring together organizations across the Midwest who serve LGBTQ+ youth to create a supportive infrastructure for LGBTQ+ youth.

Member Duties : The Youth Leadership and Organizing VISTA will support youth leadership activities and events; provide technical assistance to schools’ Gender and Sexuality Alliances (GSAs); and support the creation of youth-facing workshops. Conduct community outreach across Illinois; update materials for advocacy, education, and youth organizing; and support development activities. The Policy and Advocacy VISTA will support as the lead VISTA for the development of the Midwest LGBTQ+ Network; provide technical assistance for advocacy requests/cases; and support policy and advocacy efforts to strengthen PHIMC as a statewide leader. Increased data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts to better understand PHIMC and the Alliance's work.
