Mujeres de Islas' Agroecology and Education Facilitator
 
 
 
The Agroecology and Education Facilitator will work to organize, implement, and streamline processes for workshops, training events, and youth education. The assistant will also work to maintain and establish local food production. This position requires a creative and self-directed candidate with agroecology experience and good interpersonal skills. The candidate should be comfortable working with a dynamic team on real grassroots-level service. They must have exceptional organization skills and be knowledgeable with environmental education. Activities undertaken by this position include: (1000) • Organize and plan events with other Mujeres de Islas employees on all relevant topics for our business incubator program • Connect with local schools, particularly environmental science teachers, to promote youth interest in agriculture and sustainability • Develop curricula for youth educational engagement in farming practices and nutrition • Develop organizational methods for storing event information (i.e., flyers, participant lists, powerpoints, curriculum) for streamlined record-keeping • Carry out daily agricultural activities to support SEVA’s farms • Establish rain gardens by collaborating with the municipality and home gardens by collaborating with interested residents of Culebra • Collaborate with Mujeres de Islas employees, local residents and businesses to develop a composting program • Keep record of all relevant data for existing and newly established farms and gardens to assist in quantifying food production and impact
