Communications VISTA Community Harvest Project

Community Harvest Project (CHP) is a nonprofit farm operating in Grafton and Harvard, MA. Our central MA locations require a vehicle to access. Our mission is to engage and educate volunteers to grow fruits and vegetables for local hunger relief. We work with over 6,500 volunteers annually at our farms and orchard to grow and distribute 250,000 lbs of produce to 60,000+ individuals through our network of 26 distribution partners. The Communications VISTA member at CHP will build capacity for an annual communications strategy that results in a 10% increase in our outreach. This will increase engagement and participation in our Volunteer Farming Program fundraising/giving and participation in our events. Increased volunteer support and fund development will allow us to reach more food insecure people in MA through 2 new partner agencies. A great candidate will care deeply about food security and enjoy all aspects of project completion. They will enjoy being outdoors on farms and getting to know diverse individuals through conversations and experiences. They will be excited to solve problems through collaboration. They will have or want to develop technical skills like photography and graphic design. The VISTA will establish a deep understanding of our programs to help create effective communication strategy by learning from our farm, volunteer, and fundraising team members as well as our distribution partners. We have events such as a plant sale, pick your own flowers, harvest festival, produce distribution, and fundraisers. The VISTA will increase communications capacity by unifying, streamlining, and standardizing existing communications, as well as building relationships with media outlets to increase press coverage. Join us in January 2025 for a year of National Service to develop your communications skills as you build capacity for hunger relief in Massachusetts through the Community Harvest Project.
