CHJT Community Based Research VISTA - Health & Justice in RI

The Center for Health and Justice Transformation (CHJT) at Lifespan advances health equity for individuals and communities impacted by the criminal legal system. CHJT’s ongoing initiatives are focused on enhancing medical services for currently and formerly incarcerated patients; strengthening the prison reentry system in Rhode Island; and promoting policies and practices that improve health impacts for those involved with the criminal legal system. The Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) VISTA will develop community-centered strategies to improve research, outreach, and capacity building. This VISTA member will work with CHJT staff to conduct research activities that focus on health equity and building strong and sustainable partnerships with local community through the creation of toolkits and resources. The CHJT VISTA will also support evaluation components of CBPR engagement projects through stakeholder surveys and interviews.
