Equity in Development Analyst

Major activities of the approved AmeriCorps VISTA Project include: (1) The Equity in Development Analyst will coordinate partners and lead grant writing efforts on a proposal to fund a new job training and skill building program for minority developers in NNDC’s service area. NNDC will serve as the lead grant applicant in partnership with IU Health, Ivy Tech Community College, to apply for grant funding under the IU Health Foundation’s Community Impact Investment (CII) to create an accredited real estate development job training & skill building program for minority residents in the area. The program shall also include a component that addresses access to capital for graduates of the program. (2) The Equity in Development Analyst will create a Near North Development Equity in Development Committee of volunteer Board Members, residents, and community stakeholders that will create policies and procedures to evaluate all aspects/elements (architecture, builder, geography, homebuyer, etc.) to be considered as part of NNDC proposed development projects based on racial and economic equity. It has become a best business practice for organizations both large and small to have positions or committees dedicated to the equitable practices for that organization. NNDC is taking this model and applying it to all aspects of the development process including geography/lot selection, type of housing, selection of professionals (architects, builders, developers, sub-contractors, etc.) and financing. (3) The Equity in Development Analyst will create a program structure and strategy regarding NNDC’s future development efforts as they relate to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
