West Valley Health Equity operates a CDC Public Health AmeriCorps program that is committed to enhancing the well-being of vulnerable communities, with a specific focus on supporting pregnant and parenting women affected by substance use disorders (SUD), poverty, homelessness, and mental health challenges. The program aims to create equitable access to essential health services, provide supportive housing, and promote recovery through compassionate care and community-based interventions. Rooted in the values of empathy, respect, inclusivity, and empowerment, West Valley Health Equity operates with a deep commitment to social justice and public health equity.

Member Duties : Our dedicated AmeriCorps members are critical in delivering public health education, working closely with individuals and families to develop emotional regulation and resilience skills, offering support in navigating social services, facilitating formal and informal social activities, and providing essential transportation support. Our AmeriCorps contribute to house coverage, ensuring safety and fostering a nurturing, healing environment. AmeriCorps members expand our organization’s ability to provide events and activities that support our community and raise awareness about our programs. Our programming helps participants build authentic, supportive, positive relationships that reduce social isolation and buffer them from stressors. AmeriCorps members create a culture that is human-centered, trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and mitigates stigma.
