Health & Wellness Coordinator
 
 
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES In-School Activities & After-School Activities ¿ Facilitate “cafeteria taste tests” and other in-school activities for elementary school students during their lunch periods 1-3 times per week ¿ Research and create recipes using fruits and vegetables, provide to students at each “cafeteria taste test” ¿ Provide DCPS teachers with VeggieTime curriculum resources on monthly basis ¿ Support VeggieTime Director with additional in-school health and wellness initiatives, as needed ¿ Facilitate and/or support the VeggieTime Director with After-School health and wellness activities 1-3 times per week ¿ Support with health and wellness curriculum development as needed Garden Maintenance ¿ Remove weeds from garden beds and surrounding areas ¿ Water seeds on weekly basis ¿ Gather produce if ready, use with Produce PopUp markets ¿ Plant fruit and vegetable seedlings in garden spaces Produce PopUp Markets ¿ Prepare market table stations with tablecloth, whiteboard, bags, plastic gloves, hand sanitizer, and produce ¿ Along with VeggieTime Director, facilitate markets until all produce is distributed ¿ Track number of families served and produce distributed ¿ Prepare recipe handouts, using fruits and vegetables at Produce PopUp, to distribute to families External Partners ¿ Maintain a professional relationship with all program partners on-site and communicate with Kid Power senior staff whenever any issues arise ¿ Serve as a key representative of Kid Power to all external schools, programs, and government partners in a way that best reflects the mission, professionalism, and values of the organization General Duties ¿ Attendance at occasional special events (parent nights, fundraisers) on nights or weekends.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VeggieTime Coordinator is responsible for implementing health and wellness activities during the school day and during after-school; assisting with garden maintenance; and supporting “Produce PopUp” markets.
