Love Your Block Charleston VISTA
 
 
 
Love Your Block is a grant program that brings city leaders and residents together to build stronger neighborhoods, one block at a time. The program invites community groups and residents to find neighborhood driven solutions to address blight issues. The program will focus on activating resident volunteers to work on repairs and other remediation in their neighborhood. The Love Your Block VISTA member will assist in designing and managing the volunteer program. The VISTA will have a high level of interaction with the community and will build relationships with the residents and community organizations.

Member Duties : Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers for Love Your Block projects. Collaborate with city officials, community leaders, and partner organizations to identify volunteer needs and opportunities. Organize and facilitate volunteer training sessions to ensure that volunteers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute effectively. Establish systems for volunteer management, including tracking volunteer hours worked, and impact achieved. Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers, serving as their primary point of contact and resource. Coordinate volunteer activities and events. Develop and maintain partnerships with local stakeholders to promote volunteerism and community engagement. Collect data and prepare reports on volunteer recruitment, participation, and impact. Support the LYB Fellow in outreach and activities in neighborhoods. Design program flyers, brochures, and social media posts. Other duties as assigned.
