Economic Opportunity Coordinator- VISTA

Can technology accelerate economic mobility? Become an Economic Opportunity Advocate Our mission: get hard-working households battling poverty the resources they need to move from surviving to thriving. THRIVEfunds is an innovative technology-enabled, anti-poverty direct-giving platform that was piloted in Indianapolis in 2022-23 (www.THRIVEfunds.org). Our model connects donors to invest in practical income-boosting resources for individual households as they climb the economic ladder. We don't believe in one size fits all. Our carefully vetted community partners identify households on the brink. Each household posts a specific resource request from our curated menu of transportation, technology, child/eldercare and career advancement. Donors then select the families they want to invest in. Thrivefunds purchases the resource and ensures delivery to the household. The goal of these resource investments is self-sufficiency outcomes, e.g. to stay employed, get a next-level job, create a savings or to transition off public assistance. Two VISTAs will work in tandem to refine the operating model to work for urban/suburban vs rural residents. Both VISTAs will report to the Founder and CEO with a goal of helping 300 "working poor" Indiana families get non-cash resources including transportation, technology, family care or career aids. Budding social entrepreneurs will enjoy touching the end-to-end client funnel to recommend strategic and operational refinements based on insights from interactions with community partners, donors and client councils. Five core activities include 1) Awareness building and education to anti-poverty community organizations 2) Train community partners on how to enroll families on the platform 3) Research possible individual, corporate and foundation donors 4) Outreach to prospective donors 5) Synthesize outcomes data via surveys, testimonials and client councils Car transportation is recommended.
