Stewards VISTA: Energy Communities Bloomberg - WY Co EDA Y1
 
 
 
As energy opportunities expand, coal and power facility jobs are declining across the United States. This VISTA project will develop and advance programs that increase environmental awareness and stewardship, job training, employment pathways, and access to existing federal and community resources for low-income individuals living in energy transition communities. The purpose of the Wyoming County Economic Development Authority is to promote, develop and advance the business prosperity and economic welfare of Wyoming County, its citizens and its industrial complex; to stimulate and promote the expansion of all kinds of business and industrial activity which will tend to advance business and industrial development and maintain the economic stability of the county, provide maximum opportunities for employment, encourage thrift, and improve the standard of living of the citizens of the county; to cooperate and act in conjunction with other organizations, federal, state or local, in the promotions and advancement of industrial, commercial, agricultural, and recreational developments within the county, region, and state. This VISTA project will create job readiness in diverse industries, provide workforce opportunities, create entrepreneurial databases, and implement strategies for the Wyoming County Planning Commission that will address the community needs in Wyoming County, WV. They will create an environment of organizational collaboration between partners, perform assessments to better meet the needs of the communities in meeting additional workforce and entrepreneurship development goals. The member will research and provide resources to ensure workforce and entrepreneurship opportunities are provided in an equitable manner and ensure that newly developed workforce and entrepreneurship programs are designed to be sustainable and have programmatic capacity.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will assess and develop an asset map of existing community supports and new federal opportunities available to the community. The VISTA will identify organizations serving the community, and build partnerships and coalitions to align resources. The VISTA will develop strategic plans utilizing community input to identify anti-poverty initiatives needed by the community.
