KACEE eeCorps David Traylor Zoo, Emporia

Led by the Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education (KACEE), the Environmental Education Corps (eeCorps) AmeriCorps Program places AmeriCorps members at organizations throughout Kansas to focus on increasing environmental literacy for PreK-12 students and building capacity for environmental education in the region. eeCorps works directly with teachers, schools, and environmental education providers to support them in expanding the reach and increasing the impact of EE programming while providing access to equitable learning experiences for all PreK-12 students. This position will be located at the David Traylor Zoo, which is located in Emporia, KS. Serving the Emporia area, David Traylor Zoo is one of the smallest accredited zoos in the nation. The zoo features a walk-through area where you can enjoy a mixture of native and endangered species, as well as exceptional botanical displays. Serving PreK-12 students, David Traylor Zoo is a year-round destination for nature-based learning adventures. Field trips and camps provide attendees with an up-close exploration of the natural world, featuring live animal encounters and guided Zoo tours. Trained staff bring to life a variety of educational topics from animal adaptations to wildlife conservation. You will also be supporting teachers in carrying environmental education into their classrooms. Be a part of an important program that has a huge impact on students of all ages and abilities, supporting them in becoming our future stewards.
