Camp Mariposa Mentor
 
 
 
The United Way of Anderson County AmeriCorps Members will be serving to provide group and peer mentoring through Camp Mariposa, a weekend intervention camp and Outreach/Education services crucial to preventing opioid use, early substance use, juvenile crime and delinquent behavior. AmeriCorps Members will be responsible for providing mentorship to two cohorts of 20-30 youth (middle and high school groups) at 12 weekend camps running Friday through Sunday with fun activities such as zip-lining, swimming, canoeing, hiking, building campfires and other group activities that allow the youth to decompress and open up to other perspectives and choices. The mentors will also be administering evidence-based curriculum that educates and informs on the truths/myths of substance misuse.

Member Duties : Members will provide mentorship to two cohorts of 20-30 youth (middle and high school groups) at 12 weekend camps running Friday through Sunday with fun activities and once a month participate in a local community project and that involves the mentees and their families.
