Community engagement involves social media campaigns, assistance in funding and resource proposals and coordinating activities for member projects that promote philanthropy and strengthen the community through public service. Coordination activities include promoting awareness of projects working with the homeless and those at risk of being unhoused, assistance to those reentering community after being incarcerated, low-barrier warming centers from those being outside in the cold of winter, preserving access to drinking water, assisting with food and toy drives for needy families, and facilitating coalition discussions that advocate for essential human services. The person in the position would develop social media, grant writing and advocacy skills leading to program sustainability. The position will assist in analyzing the local provider network for service gaps, ways to strengthen organizational capacity, and address solutions for the target populations.

Member Duties : The NSCF Community Development Coordinator will help develop and implement multi-agency housing/homelessness communications and organizational capacity building. Some tasks include: Assess local service network of member projects (projects under the NSCF fiscal umbrella), Assist with building outreach and communication plans, Identify gaps in service array, Propose new approaches based on best practices and service gaps, Develop fundraisers, Apply for applicable grants. The NSCF Development Coordinator will Meet with member organizations, Identify any applicable organization that isn’t currently stakeholders in discussions, Improve upon the NSCF website (nscfundalaska.org), Assist in creating a social media plan for NSCF member projects, Promote and assist in coordinating member project events.
