E3.24 Rural Economic Development and Energy Transition VISTA
 
 
 
The Itasca Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) formed in 1981 as a 501c3 non-profit corporation dedicated to the creation of high-quality jobs in and around Itasca County. Throughout its history, IEDC has established itself as a go-to resource for business retention, growth, and expansion. Its mission is to grow Itasca County through education, research, and engagement fostering business and economic opportunities. Its vision is for a diverse and growing economy that supports equitable opportunities for all of Itasca County. IEDC is focused on a just energy transition with community investment for the future sustainable energy shift. The Eco3 VISTA Corps focuses on addressing poverty by addressing food access and systems, government policy, community development, education, health equity, creative place making, climate adaptation, energy justice and more. Eco3 VISTA members work with organizations that are deeply embedded in community to help develop equitable, resilient and sustainable solutions to community challenges through leveraging resources, building partnerships, expanding reach and improving organizational efficiency. Although each member is serving in a unique position, all cohort members will participate in VISTA specific activities such as regular cohort meetings, collaborative projects, professional development opportunities, and trainings.

Member Duties : The member will build capacity of the Itasca Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) to advance rural energy transition and economic success. Specifically, the member will 1) Support the Itasca Community task force by researching best practices for supporting rural communities going through economic and energy transition, 2) Engage with stakeholders in planning, communications, surveys, business retention, and climate adaptation/mitigation, 3) Build systems to support ongoing efforts including CRM, social media, and events/communications management.
