Pre-K & Beyond Learning Corps - Statewide

Children who are not school ready when they enter kindergarten are unlikely to catch up to their classmates in subsequent grades; in fact, the achievement gap grows as they continue in school and they become more likely to fail or repeat grades, be placed in special education, or drop out of school. 32 AmeriCorps Members are currently serving in 7 diverse counties (Madera, Del Norte, Fresno, Modoc, Siskiyou, Yuba and Kings) across the state of California, including both urban and rural areas. Pre-K & Beyond Learning Corps seeks to provide crucial skill-building activities to 0-5 year olds who are at risk for low performance upon kindergarten entry and 5-9 year olds who are at risk for low school performance in later grades. Members provide direct developmental activities to help children gain access to the knowledge and skills necessary for success.
