Euclid Development Corporation (EDCOR)

This project seeks to expand affordable housing opportunities and help vulnerable residents in the City of Euclid by optimizing technological tools and building organizational capacity. EDCOR has served Euclid for over 40 years via down payment programs and low-interest home improvement loans that open doors for low-to-moderate income families to achieve homeownership or make critical home repairs. However, decreased recent application volumes, paired with Euclid's primarily aging housing stock and declining incomes, spotlight barriers in connecting eligible households with EDCOR's resources. EDCOR aims to assess and upgrade client accessibility by streamlining technological systems and establishing consistent brand visibility—areas where a VISTA’s contributions can unlock major progress. The VISTA will facilitate key projects like automating application procedures, integrating seamless online loan payments, constructing outreach materials, and formulating surveys to capture community feedback. Modernizing tools to simplify client experiences supplements EDCOR's in-person assistance provision. Conducting targeted marketing and collecting input enables refinement to better address neighborhood needs. Strengthening EDCOR's capacity will expand affordable housing opportunities to benefit hundreds of local residents over the next decade. Facilitating easy access to lending programs offers financial stability for families below median incomes facing large housing cost burdens. As systems efficiency improves opportunities for low-income and credit-challenged households, this VISTA project upholds the AmeriCorps mission of alleviating poverty by making homeownership and revitalization achievable. The VISTA will champion progress equipping EDCOR to navigate clients toward security in Euclid’s aging housing landscape.
