Real Estate Systems Change VISTA

Wesley Housing builds up the lives of our most vulnerable community members by creating and operating healthy, supportive, stable, affordable housing communities. Since 1974, Wesley Housing’s track record of building, managing and maintaining high quality affordable housing throughout the greater Washington, DC area has earned the trust and support of its stakeholders. In collaboration with partners, a host of enrichment and supportive services empower residents to break the cycle of poverty. We offer residents a home in caring communities where they can achieve financial stability, personal growth, and hope for a better future. The Real Estate Systems Change VISTA project identifies objectives to improve efficiency of the Wesley Real Estate department develop and preserve affordable homes throughout the DC metro region. The project is designed to address key areas spanning strategic planning; diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging (DEIB) systems change; data management; and housing and finance research. VISTA tasks would enable streamlined policies and procedures to be developed. Tasks would emphasize efficient communication and task coordination. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) are paramount considerations and would include development of policies and procedures that embed DEIB principles into the fabric of RED operations. The portfolio database is a central role in driving informed decision-making and strategic planning therefore revamping the Development Portfolio Statistics chart/database and integrating new metrics is key. Exploring new practices in housing development, construction, financing, and affordable homeownership structures is another essential task. The exploration would include manufactured construction, unlocking avenues for sustainable and cost-effective development.
