United Way of the Kearney Area is celebrating its 60th anniversary of advocating and supporting needs related to health, education and financial security in the Buffalo, Custer, Kearney, Franklin, Phelps and Harlan county region. Our mission is to connect people who care with people who need. The VISTA member is essential to helping United Way progress in our mission of connecting people to resources by actively engaging the community and building plans for a Community Resource Center. The VISTA member will: • Coordinate community listening sessions • Develop a framework for a Community Resource Center in Kearney • Collaborate with local nonprofit and business leaders • Coordinate outreach activities within the community • Research and write grant proposals • Design programming for systemic change The ideal member will be resourceful, excited to network and collaborate, and passionate about community. The member should be comfortable with technology. Great interpersonal skills is a must. This is an incredible opportunity to help build a crucial piece needed for a lasting impact for the community for decades to come.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will develop plans for a Community Resource Center, and build capacity for the organization in creating programming related to helping people navigate local resources and training for professionals in the helping community and community members.
