United Way of the Brazos Valley Capacity Expansion VISTA
 
 
 
United Way of the Brazos Valley mobilizes communities so all can thrive. For over 70 years, we have supported and facilitated programs designed to reduce poverty and provide opportunities for low income individuals and families. We are located in Bryan, Texas and our service area includes seven counties in the Brazos Valley. United Way of the Brazos Valley provides the following programs and services: 1) Grant funding to nonprofit organizations: Through the Community Impact Grant program and Community Builders Grant program, we provide over $361,000 annually to nonprofit organizations throughout the region 2) 2-1-1 Texas: United Way hosts the regional information and referral service for the Brazos Valley 3) Early Literacy Program: 1) Baby Bundles: United Way provides every baby born in the region with their first book through partnerships with local hospitals, 2) Book Bash Events: United Way facilitates three major book giveaway events throughout the year to provide additional access to books for children ages 0-18. In 2023, over 6,000 books were distributed to children in the region. 3) In 2022, the Books and a Blanket program was added to distribute more than 7,000 books to children through partnerships with local schools. 4) Youth Leadership Cabinet: Inspiring high school students to become community-minded leaders 5) Volunteer Brazos Valley: Connecting volunteers to opportunities to serve their community 6) Ride2Health: Providing low income patients transportation to healthcare appointments.

Member Duties : The Marketing Specialist will play a vital role in expanding capacity and community networks for the United Way of the Brazos Valley focused on Ride2Health, Community Impact Programs, Disaster Response, Workplace Campaigns and advancement of United Way initiatives and branding. The Marketing Specialist will create a marketing plan for United Way of the Brazos Valley initiatives. The VISTA member will develop community, donor and business partnerships to expand impact work and service capacities through additional awareness and funding. The Marketing Specialist will increase funding sources to serve mid-to-low income individuals and families. The funding will increase opportunities to break the cycle of poverty by providing more transportation accessibility to healthcare and additional support to those impacted by financial and natural disasters. The Marketing Specialist will engage the community by creating dynamic content for social media, newsletters, blogs, and more.
