Orlando Local Foods and Livability

Local Foods is an initiative from the Office of Sustainability & Resilience working towards a local food system that encompasses the entire cycle of food production and consumption, including growing, transporting and the use of disposal, and providing access to nutritious healthy food in local food deserts. The Local Foods VISTA will break the cycle of poverty by working towards building sustainable education through outdoor learning at City of Orlando community gardens. VISTA will build capacity within the local food program by strengthening partnerships with local, nonprofit organizations, recruiting volunteers, securing grant funds, and developing curriculum.
