Regional Resilience Equity Workgroup Capacity Building VISTA
 
 
 
The Virginia Capacity Building Project supports the Virginia Department of Social Services and their partners in alleviating the effects of poverty through capacity building. While our project covers a wide range of issue areas, from substance use disorder to immigrant and refugee services, all of our members are dedicated to increasing the impact and reach of social services and to pursuing healthy futures for all Virginians. The efforts of our AmeriCorps members will help us build towards a healthier, happier, and stronger Commonwealth.

Member Duties : The VISTA will be serving with the Regional Resilience Equity Workgroup (RREW) to advance equitable solutions to resilience challenges faced by communities in the 10 counties of Virginia’s Northern Neck & Middle Peninsula. The RREW is a coalition of community organizations, nonprofits, state agencies, local governments, & Tribes whose members coordinate through a Core Workgroup that meets monthly. The Core Workgroup facilitates 6 Subgroups: Economic Development & Living Wages, Health & Mental Well-being, Affordable Housing & Shelters, Transit, Food Security, & Programs for Youth & Families. VISTA will provide critical support in building & sustaining the RREW & its members’ work on equitable resilience initiatives across Virginia. Applicants should have reliable transportation & be comfortable using Microsoft Office. Excellent written &verbal skills are necessary to effectively progress project goals. Applicants with an understanding of rural and/or coastal communities are a plus.
