La misión de Familias en Acción (Familias) es Fortalecer la salud y el bienestar de las familias y comunidades latinas en Oregón. While service provision is at the core of Familias en Acción’s work, we also engage in system-wide initiatives that address the root causes of health disparities. We aim to change the structure that perpetuates health disparities by spreading awareness, raising funds, and convening our community at the Latino Health Equity Conference. This in turn spreads awareness about health disparities in Latine communities in Oregon and drives the social change needed to influence the health and wellness of Latine populations in our state through increased funding, and resource and information sharing among public health entities. The VISTA member will be fully integrated into Familias team of 27 staff and will attend any relevant professional development opportunities. The ideal VISTA member will be bilingual in Spanish and English and will self-identify as a member of the Latine community.
