24-25 Lewis and Clark HFH - Housing Action Corps - Programs

The Community Project Development VISTA will serve with Lewis & Clark Habitat for Humanity in Collinsville, IL from August 2024-2025. Lewis & Clark Habitat for Humanity (LCHFH) is part of the Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Housing Action Corps members receive custom training, support, and networking opportunities in housing and community development, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. Learn more: housingactionil.org/americorps. LCHFH develops communities with people in need by building and renovating houses in three southern Illinois counties. To keep our houses affordable, we rely on volunteers and donations from individuals and local businesses. The Community Project Development VISTA will enhance our ability to fundraise, maintain volunteers, market our services, and develop connections in our community. They will develop systems to track volunteers and donors across the five community chapters we serve, as well as research and create proposals for grants. Our ideal candidate has some experience with nonprofit grant writing and fundraising, as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. They should be excited to organize community fundraising events and campaigns.

Member Duties : LCHFH has built 45 homes already and strives to build two to five houses each year, but it is not enough to address the growing need for decent, affordable housing in southern Illinois. As an illustration, one of our five chapters received 47 applications for the two houses they were building last year. The Community Project Development VISTA will collaborate with LCHFH’s Board of Directors to build our fundraising, marketing, and community outreach capacity. The VISTA will develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to secure sustainable funding, which includes email marketing campaigns, donation partnerships, and grant prospects. They will also research and establish a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database to document and track our volunteers and donors. By the end of their service, the VISTA will execute a strategic marketing campaign that unifies our brand across our chapters and raises awareness within our communities.
