Public Health Modernization VISTA

This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. The final day to submit an application for this position is June 25, 2024. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will help implement an evaluation of Oregon’s legislatively funded governmental public health modernization efforts focused on addressing communicable disease response and environmental health threats that disproportionately impact communities of color, tribal communities, persons with physical, developmental or intellectual disabilities, persons living in congregate care and low-income communities. Without this system, Oregon risks its public health resilience, response and recovery, and future health threats will continue to exacerbate health inequities. A successful candidate would bring an interest in exploring governmental public health, program evaluation and organizational performance measurement. Prior experience in conducting interviews, focus groups and surveys preferable. Strong writing skills needed. The OHA AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce to broaden and deepen our work in the communities we serve. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Portland is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health.
