National Housing Trust - Financial Empowerment VISTA (LitMN)
 
 
 
This is an exciting opportunity to impact more than 2,000 households in affordable housing communities located in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) region. This is a unique opportunity to work with an organization dedicated to the success of the affordable housing communities and residents in which we serve. In addition, the position will receive additional professional development support through Literacy Minnesota, an organization committed to sharing the power of learning through education, community building and advocacy. With support from Literacy Minnesota, the Financial Empowerment VISTA will expand existing, community-level financial stability and wellness services across eleven affordable housing communities in Washington D.C. Maryland and Virginia. The member's work will focus on providing long-term, sustainable solutions for residents living in NHT communities and support financial wellness and housing stability programs within NHT's Community Outreach and Impact team. Essential to success will be a flexible, compassionate self-starter with a passion for wealth-building initiatives among low-income families. The Financial Empowerment VISTA will be supported by the Managing Director of Community Outreach and Impact, COI Operations Manager, Resident Service Coordinators, and community stakeholders to ensure appropriate programmatic planning, implementation and management. Member Duties : The Financial Empowerment VISTA will lead the development and implementation of an onsite financial stability and wellness program framework that advance housing stability and institute a holistic wealth-building model in onsite services. The member will work alongside frontline staff to assess and design the framework as well as train staff to implement the framework. Additionally, the member will leverage NHT's existing financial literacy programming to strengthen and expand efforts to build wealth and alleviate poverty among low-income families. The member will complete an end of year assessment to share recommendations for sustainable solutions. Position is part of the Literacy Leadership AmeriCorps VISTA program of Literacy Minnesota (LitMN). Literacy Minnesota fosters an organizational culture that is welcoming and inclusive to all.
