24-25 DuPage HFH - Housing Action Corps - Logistics
 
 
 
The Logistics Coordinator VISTA will serve with DuPage Habitat for Humanity and Chicago South Suburbs (DHFH-CSS) in Wheaton, IL from August 2024-2025. DHFH-CSS is part of the Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Housing Action Corps members receive custom training, support, and networking opportunities in housing and community development, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. We provide affordable mortgages and home repairs to communities across DuPage County and Chicago South Suburbs. The Logistics Coordinator will make a lasting impact by creating a strong foundation of organization behind the scenes of the construction department. If you are passionate about affordable housing and want to have an impact on others while expanding your professional experience, DHFH-CSS is the place to do it. We are seeking an organized, tech-savvy individual who likes problem-solving and collaboration. No experience necessary, but a passion for serving others required and basic knowledge of construction preferred. Shared housing and utilities are offered at $1 per month for all DHFH-CSS AmeriCorps members.

Member Duties : By streamlining and providing structure to our construction inventory and training processes, DHFH-CSS will be able to offer affordable housing opportunities to more families. The Logistics Coordinator VISTA will: create an organization system and inventory system with easy check in/check out procedures for new warehouse space; work with construction team to update their Construction Manual by setting up editing workshops on non-build days; work with Director of Construction to learn how to do supply orders, COI or permit applications, setting up a subcontractor schedule, and inspection requests; collaborate with the construction team to coordinate site scheduling based on projects most urgently in need of completion; create a picture-based tool and material manual that new incoming AmeriCorps members or apprentices can reference; and maintain warehouse on a weekly basis.
