research VISTA who will support two exciting projects in the historic 5th Ward neighborhood. Fifth Ward CRC has been working in 5th Ward for 31 years to build affordable housing, increase family wealth, increase economic development, and offer quality amenities like arts and culture venues and parks. As a VISTA, you will be supporting real estate, economic development, and arts-based projects that ensure a wholistic approach to building community to ensure 5th Wards ability to continue their mission and efforts to preserve affordable housing for low-income families. You will provide critical research and outreach that includes gathering data on comparable projects as well as working to engage the community to provide critical input during project development. You'll work with a great team of professionals with diverse experience from finance to financial counseling to disaster recovery -- who are all also very passionate about community-driven development. You will also get to know 5th Ward community members and learn about how to help low- and moderate-income families thrive.

Member Duties : The Affordable Housing Research and Outreach VISTA will research to support real estate renovation and preservation of affordable and historic housing rentals for conversion into artist live/workspace. Research will include real estate renovation, preservation of affordable and historic housing for artists to live and work that could be used to determine the best practices and present findings to appropriate staff. The VISTA will research to support repairs and renovations of vacated mid-rise office space. The VISTA member will participate in and support the Great Opportunity (GO) Neighborhoods Working Group on affordable housing & real estate development. The VISTA will also evaluate community benefits agreement and research impact for improved performance in future opportunities. These activities include documenting and compiling findings regarding research for evaluation of community benefits, analyzing existing systems, and job training opportunities to ensure sustainability.
