Member Duties : The neighborhood of Bronzeville experiences high levels of poverty and housing insecurity, which have only been exacerbated by the recent migrant crisis facing Chicago and the nation. The Housing Justice Organizer will collaborate with local residents and organizations to identify resources to help BSCO confront this new issue and continue expanding access to affordable housing in our community. The VISTA will build relationships with and conduct a comprehensive survey of all the housing-related human services organizations, programs, and government agencies available to local residents. They will create an educational curriculum about these resources, with specific sections about housing resources for migrants and guidance for pursuing the housing justice priorities for longtime Bronzeville residents. They will also plan and execute an outreach strategy for distributing this curriculum to the community.
