24-25 VISTA for Increasing Housing Availability

Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County (HHLC) has a mission to build safe, affordable housing, and to deliver a hand up to families in order to lift them out of poverty. The goal of this project is to increase capacity for HHLC to provide better construction job training, expand the ReStore’s service area, and promote affordable homeownership. This project will serve low-income populations. The VISTA will expand outreach, develop the training program, and strengthen partnerships with other nonprofits. The VISTA will help break the cycle of poverty by improving services that allow families to secure stable housing. The VISTA will build capacity by ensuring that services meet the needs of the community and increasing awareness of available services. The VISTA’s efforts will result in informational materials for renters, draft procedures for student training, and a sustainability plan for donation collection. This service opportunity is available without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity or expression, political affiliation, marital or parental status, genetic information, or military service. This program is available to all and specific accessibility needs will be addressed on a case-by-case scenario. Background checks will be required before service and may be repeated during service.
