MTCC AC Salish Kootenai College- Upward Bound

The Salish Kootenai College Upward Bound is a college-preparatory and career coaching program aimed to facilitate the success of low-income and first-generation students on the Flathead Indian Reservation. To do so, the program engages participants in activities and instruction that encourages academic proficiency and personal discovery. The Americorps member will serve as a College Coach. The College Coach will seek to provide comprehensive college and career preparatory services to high school students in one or more of the following Montana towns: Arlee, Charlo, Hot Springs, Polson, Ronan, St. Ignatius, and Two Eagle River. Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.
