*MTCC AC Dawson Promise at Dawson Community College

In partnership with Dawson Community College, Dawson Promise is a program aimed at helping youth aging out of the foster care system, unaccompanied youth, or homeless youth obtain a two-year education without debt. Through Dawson Promise, students are provided opportunities that may have previously seemed out of reach. The AmeriCorps member will serve as a College Coach at Dawson Community College (DCC) and will primarily serve the students in the Dawson Promise Program. This role focuses on supporting and empowering low-income, disadvantaged students on their path through college. Dawson Promise is aimed at helping unaccompanied youth who are experiencing homelessness or aging out of the foster care system, or who are otherwise unaccompanied, to obtain a two-year post-secondary education free of debt. This program is unique to DCC and the only program of its kind in the state of Montana. Learn More about Dawson Promise here:https://www.dawson.edu/outreach/dawson-promise.html Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.
