NAMI - Project Development Coordinator

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) envisions a world where all people affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives supported by a community that cares. Our mission is to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. Our values are at the core of our mission and vision: hope, compassion, empowerment, inclusion, and fairness. NAMI is a national program served by local-level affiliates which address mental health issues specific to their communities. NAMI Southern Ohio serves five counties in southern and south central Ohio. Poverty and its related effects, including hunger, are chief concerns among many of the clients we serve in our region. Resources for mental health and hunger relief are both scarce. Oftentimes we find our clients without food resources. Even those who qualify for SNAP and food pantry support may not have it because of challenges with applications, transportation, and other barriers. We seek to build a sustainable infrastructure within the five counties served by NAMI Southern Ohio to provide anti-hunger and anti-poverty resources for those affected by mental illness and their families.
